CDRW's Fall DEIJ Webinar Series

Bridging Environmental Education and Advocacy: Information Gathering, Relationship Building, and Outreach in Environmental Justice Communities of Color

Via Zoom

The Coalition for the Delaware River Watershed welcomes organizations to join the Alliance for Watershed Education on December 7th at 1pm for a webinar on environmental justice grants. To move the needle on watershed protection and restoration, it is critical to understand the needs of all communities in the watershed. These projects aim to understand the environmental Justice community landscape in underrepresented areas of the watershed to enhance impact by bridging environmental education, outdoor recreation, and advocacy together. Learn from our panel of grantees about their findings in each of these communities including what issues are important, perspectives related to water, barriers faced in engaging with the outdoors and advocacy work, and pathways for next steps. Panelists will also discuss their strategies, successes, and challenges in conducting this project to provide insight for attendees to consider when gauging perspectives in their own communities.
Following presentations from our panelists we will open space for discussion and Q&A.

Panelists: Kim Murphy (Berks Nature), Tiana Lopez (Berks Nature) Julie Slavet, (Tookany/Tacony-Frankford Watershed Partnership); John Harrod (Delaware Nature Society)
