As a result of the restoration and protection efforts in the Schuylkill River Watershed over the years, recreational use has increased remarkably. The newly formed Recreation Workgroup was created to engage recreational users in becoming better stewards to the environment. This includes changing the public perspective on the Schuylkill River, from a once heavily polluted river to a significantly cleaner and safer recreational resource.

What is #BoattheSchuylkill?

The Schuylkill Action Network is committed to including everyone in recreational activities on the Schuylkill River to foster stewardship. We are also committed to improving and promoting public access to the river so that everyone can become educated about this beautiful natural resource and opt outside. There are many ways to boat the Schuylkill, including kayaking, canoeing, jetskiing, rowing, motorboating, and paddleboating.

The Schuylkill Action Network is committed to getting everyone involved with recreation on the Schuylkill River. Fishing is one way that people can connect to our waterways. Linking users to local fishing opportunities is a great way to "catch" the fun of fishing and inspire clean water conservation!

Sojourn Steward

Every year in June, Schuylkill River Greenways (SRG) hosts the annual Schuylkill River Sojourn. The SAN sponsors an individual to participate in the sojourn and complete a stewardship activity while kayaking the Schuylkill River.
