PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund

The Multimodal Transportation Fund stabilizes funding for ports and rail freight, increases aviation investments, establishes dedicated funding for bivyvle and pedestrian improvements, and allows targeted funding for priority investments in any mode. Environmental Quality Incentives Program

The Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) is a voluntary conservation program that helps agricultural producers in a manner that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible goals. Through EQIP, agricultural producers receive financial and technical assistance to implement structural and management conservation practices that optimize environmental benefits on working agricultural land.

Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Grants

The Department of Environmental Protection will be accepting applications for EPA Section 319 Watershed Restoration and Planning Grants starting June 24.  The deadline for applications is August 9, 2019. The Department is focusing these grants on projects that reduce nonpoint source pollution in targeted watersheds with WIPs, especially projects that reduce nitrogen, phosphorous and sediment pollution from agricultural and stormwater runoff, along with AMD-related pollution from iron, aluminum and acidity. The Department is particularly interested in projects that implement effective best management practices (BMP) that reduce or eliminate stream impairments within WIP areas, leading to local water quality improvements.

Drinking Water State Revolving Fund

The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), administered jointly with the PA Department of Environmental Protection, provides a resource for financing various public drinking water systems (including systems owned by for-profit entities and not-for-profit entities) for expenditures for projects which will facilitate compliance with national and state drinking water regulations or otherwise advance the health-protection objectives of the Safe Drinking Water Act. The Clean and Drinking Water State Revolving funds are funded by federal capitalization grants and State matching funds.

Growing Greener Plus Grants Program

Growing Greener Plus, Pennsylvania’s most widely recognized environmental grant program, opens November 4, 2019. The four programs covered under this program are Growing Greener Watershed Restoration & Protection, Surface Mining Conservation and Reclamation Act (SMCRA) Bond Forfeiture, and Abandoned Mine Drainage (AMD) Set-Aside grants. The purpose of these grants is to addresss nonpoint source pollution through local, watershed-based planning, restoration and protection efforts. Applications are due by COB December 20, 2019, and applicants should contact the appropriate DEP staff by Friday, December 6, 2019.

Resilient Communitities

Wells Fargo and NFWF have partnered to create the Resilient Communities program. Through improvements to natural features and enhanced community capacity, the program will help communities prepare for future impacts associated with sea level rise, sustain appropriate water quantity and quality and enhance forest conservation. By taking advantage of natural features like wetlands, resilient shorelines, urban tree canopies, natural forests and healthy upstream watersheds, communities can accrue quality of life benefits today, enhance fish and wildlife resources and help prepare for foreseeable resilience challenges.
