DESCRIPTION:Join EPA for this 2-part webinar focused on addressing lead in small community water systems. Click here to register \nService Line Inventory Technical Assistance for Small Community and Non-Community Water Systems in Wisconsin\nNearly 2\,000 public water systems in Wisconsin\, over 90% of which serve a population of 3\,330 consumers or less\, are regulated by the Lead and Copper Rule and the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions. Many of these small public water systems do not have staff with the technical expertise required to complete a service line inventory\, nor the financial resources required to hire someone. This presentation will provide an overview of Wisconsin DNR’s approach to providing service line technical assistance to small community and non-community public water systems. The multi-pronged approach includes hiring limited-term employees to conduct on-site materials inspections at non-transient non-community water systems\, and hiring a contractor to provide individual on-site assistance with records review to hundreds of small community public water systems. Successes so far\, lessons learned\, and collaborative partnerships will be highlighted. \n  \nLead Service Line Identification\, Replacement Planning\, Community Engagement\, and Funding Technical Assistance Programs\nThis presentation will include an overview of how EPA Water Technical Assistance (EPA WaterTA) can support communities with their efforts to achieve clean\, safe\, and reliable drinking water. DESCRIPTION:The contamination of wastewater with pathogens has become an ever-increasing concern for wastewater treatment plant operators since the 2001 Amerithrax incident\, 2014 Ebola outbreak\, and most recently\, the COVID-19 pandemic. A better understanding of how these pathogens move through the wastewater system and effective measures for removing them from materials and wastewater is crucial.\nThis webinar presentation will showcase research conducted at EPA’s Test and Evaluation facility. It will discuss pathogen persistence in an activated sludge treatment system\, methods for treating biosolids contaminated with heat-resistant spores (i.e.\, lime stabilization\, composting\, and incineration) and what conditions might contribute to pathogens surviving treatment. DESCRIPTION:Every April\, the Conservancy hosts a single-day watershed-wide event focused on removing litter\, tires and other debris from regional waterways. This event brings together volunteers who work collaboratively to clean-up streamside sites\, parks and open spaces throughout the watershed. Since its creation in 2004\, the Perkiomen Stream Clean-up has grown to become the largest single-day stream clean-up in the state of Pennsylvania with 1\,700 volunteers participating in 2023!\n2024 marks the 20th anniversary of this event – help make it the biggest one yet!
