SUMMARY:EPA’s Flood Cleanup Resources: Promoting Community Resilience through Risk Communication
DESCRIPTION:On June 18th\, 2025\, from 3:00-4:00 (ET)\, EPA is hosting a tools and resources webinar. EPA’s Office of Research Development and Region 4 (Southeast) used the EPA’s risk communication framework and human-centered design techniques to figure out what information people affected by a flood need and how they make cleanup decisions. The webinar will review the risk communication and human-centered design strategies used to develop the Flooded Homes Cleanup Guidance website and provide an overview of the website and its key features.  \n\n\n\n\nRegister Here

SUMMARY:Sojourn Scholar 2025 Application Due
DESCRIPTION:Are you a teacher? Do you love to kayak and camp? Join the Schuylkill River Sojourn\, an annual 112-mile guided kayak/canoe trip from Schuylkill Haven to Philadelphia. \n\n\n\n\nMore on Schuylkill River Sojourn\n\n\n\n\nThe Schuylkill Action Network is funding one teacher to participate in this one-week trip and bring their experience back to the classroom. \n\n\n\nThe Sojourn Scholar will paddle all seven days of the Sojourn and be a full-trip participant along with hundreds of other paddlers. Please know that the sojourn is physically arduous and the Sojourn Scholar must be able to paddle approximately 15 miles a day along with the other physical tasks required to get down the river. This includes navigating portages around dams and carrying kayaks at put-ins and take-outs\, as well as setting up a tent each night. \n\n\n\nThe Sojourn Scholar is welcome to bring their own kayak\, paddle and PFD if they own one. However\, Schuylkill River Greenways (SRG) and their outfitter would be happy to set you up with all of the paddling gear you will need for the week free of charge. \n\n\n\nThe Sojourn Scholar will need all camping gear for a full week including a tent\, rainfly\, tarp\, sleeping pad\, sleeping bag\, dry bag\, etc.  If the Sojourn Scholar can not supply those items\, they will be provided through the Sojourn outfitter free of charge. \n\n\n\n3 meals are provided each day. The Sojourn host communities work very hard to ensure many options at each meal.  Vegetarian options will be available at all meals.  If you have additional dietary requirements beyond a vegetarian option\, you will need to provide those items for yourself for the week.  SRG would be happy to discuss transport of items that do not need to be refrigerated. \n\n\n\n\nSojourn Scholar 2025 Application
