Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) Specialized Training for Executive Directors, Board Chairs, and DEIJ Change Agents

October 14, 2021 1:00pm to 4:00pm

This workshop is presented to our conservation members at no charge from WeConservePA. Donations are encouraged to support our DEIJ work.

Marcelo Bonta is a national DEIJ expert focusing on conservation, and the founder of J.E.D.I. Heart. He will lead participants through a workshop specifically tailored towards the unique role these organizational leaders play. Included will be guidance on how to effectively lead and support the organization through a DEIJ change process, and how to effectively integrate DEIJ values and principles in their leadership. Also joining us will be a guest speaker who will share his experience and lessons learned as an executive director guiding a non-profit through a DEIJ change process.

We invite up to 25 conservation organizations to join us for this immersive workshop. Each organization is asked to send three individuals in leadership positions, including the Executive Director (or equivalent), Board Chair or President, and main staff person who handles the organization’s DEIJ work (i.e., DEIJ officer, point-person, or manager). Because supporting an organizational DEIJ change process is a strong focus of this session, it is critical that all three of these positions be in attendance for the entirety of this workshop (with their video on for the duration). How these three positions support and embody DEIJ can make or break the effort. There will be snack/stretch/bathroom breaks. This workshop will not be recorded, and content will not made available after the workshop except to workshop participants.

If you have any questions about which members of your organization should attend, please contact Director of Outreach and Development Sara Painter at spainter@weconservepa.org
