Drinking Water State Revolving Fund

Dirt Gravel, and Low Volume Road Maintenance Program
Section 9106 of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code annually provides for the allocation of $35,000,000 from the Motor Vehicle License Fund for the Dirt and Gravel Road Maintenance Program. Of that amount, $7,000,000 is allocated directly to the Bureau of Forestry for maintaining the dirt and gravel roads in their jurisdictions. The SCC is responsible for allocating the remaining $28,000,000 to the 64 County Conservation Districts who participate in the Dirt and Gravel Road Maintenance Program, including up to $8,000,000 for the maintenance of low-volume roads. State Wildlife Grant Program
Funds for the State Wildlife Grants program (SWG) are provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to keep species from becoming federally listed as threatened or endangered. Stormwater Management Incentives Program
SMIP projects are evaluated based on a variety of criteria, including total volume of stormwater managed, cost competitiveness and other environmental and educational benefits. Competitive applications will limit grant requests to $100,000 or less per impervious acre and manage at least the first 1” of runoff. Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Grants
The Department of Environmental Protection will be accepting applications for EPA Section 319 Watershed Restoration and Planning Grants starting June 24. The deadline for applications is August 9, 2019. The Department is focusing these grants on projects that reduce nonpoint source pollution in targeted watersheds with WIPs, especially projects that reduce nitrogen, phosphorous and sediment pollution from agricultural and stormwater runoff, along with AMD-related pollution from iron, aluminum and acidity. The Department is particularly interested in projects that implement effective best management practices (BMP) that reduce or eliminate stream impairments within WIP areas, leading to local water quality improvements.
