Boating Facility Grant Program

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) created the Boating Facility Grant Program to provide grants for rehabilitation, expansion or construction of new boat ramps, bulkheads, courtesy floats, access roads, parking areas, restrooms, signs and localized landscaping to benefit and directly support recreational boating on Commonwealth waters. The goal of the program is to ensure Pennsylvania’s recreational boaters have access to the highest quality boating facilities. Grant recipients are responsible for at least 50% of the proposed project cost. The Climate Change Investment Initiative (2c2i℠), launched by The Exelon Foundation and Exelon Corporation, concentrates on startups that will help mitigate or adapt to climate change (e.g. reducing GHG emissions, energy efficienty improvements, renewable energy, flood mitigation, stormwater management, etc.) in Atlantic City, Baltimore, Chicago,
Philadelphia, Washington DC and Wilmington DE.

NEP Coastal Watersheds Grant Program

The National Estuaries Program's Coastal Watersheds Grants are part of a nationally competitive program designed to support projects that address urgent and challenging issues threatening the well-being of coastal and estuarine areas within determined estuaries of national significance. Congressionally-set project priorities include loss of key habitats, harmful algal blooms, invasive species, flooding and coastal erosion, nutrient and warm water impacts, and contaminants of emerging concern. Community Mini-Grants for PA AMD Projects

In 2020, the Reclaiming Appalachia Coalition will award mini-grants to four projects on abandoned mine lands (AML) in Alabama, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania. The grant award will consist of $7,000 in start-up funds as well as 30 hours of project technical and planning assistance from Downstream Strategies. The grants are intended to provide resources and support to turn viable land reuse concepts into fundable projects.

Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund

The Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund was launched in 2018 to conserve and restore natural areas, corridors and waterways on public and private lands that support native fish, wildlife and plants, and to contribute to the vitality of the communities in the Delaware River watershed. Priority strategies for on-the-ground implementation include:

  • sustaining and enhancing fish and wildlife habitat;
  • improving and maintaining water quality for fish, wildlife and people;
  • sustaining and enhancing water management for volume/flood mitigation to benefit fish and wildlife;
  • and improving public access and outdoor recreational opportunities within the Delaware River watershed.
