Schuylkill Highlands Mini Grant Program

This program provides mini-grants up to $15,000.00 to projects in Berks County, and major portions of Chester, Montgomery, Bucks, and to a lesser extent Lancaster and Lebanon Counties, that support the goals and objectives of the Schuylkill Highlands Conservation Landscape. The Schuylkill Highlands Mini-Grant Program is a reimbursement grant program funded by the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and administered by the Schuylkill River Heritage Area and Natural Lands Trust.

Schuylkill River Restoration Fund

The Schuylkill River Restoration Fund provides grants to government agencies and non-profit organizations for projects that improve the quality of water in the watershed. The grants focus on three major sources of pollution: stormwater run-off, agricultural pollution and abandoned mine drainage. This program also offers administrative assistance grants for land transaction and open space preservation projects.

Section 319 Nonpoint Source Management Grants

The Department of Environmental Protection will be accepting applications for EPA Section 319 Watershed Restoration and Planning Grants starting June 24.  The deadline for applications is August 9, 2019. The Department is focusing these grants on projects that reduce nonpoint source pollution in targeted watersheds with WIPs, especially projects that reduce nitrogen, phosphorous and sediment pollution from agricultural and stormwater runoff, along with AMD-related pollution from iron, aluminum and acidity. The Department is particularly interested in projects that implement effective best management practices (BMP) that reduce or eliminate stream impairments within WIP areas, leading to local water quality improvements.

Sewage Facilities Program

Act 13 of 2012 establishes the Marcellus Legacy Fund and allocates funds to the Commonwealth Financing Authority (the “Authority”) for statewide initiatives for complying with the Act of January 24, 1966 (1965 P. L. 1535, No. 537), known as the Pennsylvania Sewage Facilities Act. Grants up to $100,000 will be awarded for costs associated with the planning work required under 537.

State Wildlife Grant Program

Funds for the State Wildlife Grants program (SWG) are provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to keep species from becoming federally listed as threatened or endangered. Annually appropriated by the U.S. Congress, Pennsylvania's funds are apportioned between the Fish and Boat Commission and Game Commission to address each agencies' trust species and habitats. The priority topic for the project will help support Pennsylvania's amphibian and reptile Species of Greatest Conservation Need found in the 2015-2025 Pennsylvania Wildlife Action Plan

Stormwater Management Incentives Program

SMIP projects are evaluated based on a variety of criteria, including total volume of stormwater managed, cost competitiveness and other environmental and educational benefits. Competitive applications will limit grant requests to $100,000 or less per impervious acre and manage at least the first 1” of runoff. Payments may not exceed the actual cost for the design and installation of the project. Applicants must be the property owner, PWD customer or tenant with permission from the property owner.
