NEP Coastal Watersheds Grant Program
The National Estuaries Program's Coastal Watersheds Grants are part of a nationally competitive program designed to support projects that address urgent and challenging issues threatening the well-being of coastal and estuarine areas within determined estuaries of national significance. Congressionally-set project priorities include loss of key habitats, harmful algal blooms, invasive species, flooding and coastal erosion, nutrient and warm water impacts, and contaminants of emerging concern. Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund 2023 Request for Proposals
The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), in partnership with the U.S Fish & Wildlife Service, is soliciting proposals through the Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund (DWCF) to conserve, restore, and connect people with fish and wildlife habitat in the Delaware River watershed. Applications are due March 16, 2023. The DWCF will award matching grants of $75,000 to $1,500,000 each to conserve, restore, and protect habitats on public and private land, across rural, urban, and Tribal areas, that contribute to the overall health of the Delaware River watershed—as well as benefit the quality of life and economic vitality of the communities in the Delaware River watershed. This program offers grants to farmers to explore new concepts in sustainable agriculture through experiments, surveys, prototypes, on-farm demonstrations, or other research and education techniques. TreePennsylvania Bare Root Tree Program
TreePennsylvania's Bare Root Tree program aims to assist communities in Pennsylvania with increasing the tree canopy and commitment to urban and community forests. This program provides 10 – 20 large caliper bare root trees for planting on land owned by a municipality (streets and parks) or non-profit organizations. Approved applicants are responsible for scheduling a site visit and/or consultation with a PADCNR/Penn State Extension Forester and coordinating pick up of trees at a designated location and date. Trees must be planted within one week of pick up. TreePennsylvania will purchase trees on behalf of the communities – funding will not be provided directly to grantees. Mine Map Grant Program
The Mine Map Grant (MMG) provides funding to learning institutions and incorporated nonprofit organizations in Pennsylvania to process mine maps and mine data into electronic formats that can be used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other computer applications. Primarily, the MMG will fund the scanning, georeferencing, vectorizing and 3D modeling of mine maps. All these efforts will improve the quality, quantity and delivery of mining information to the millions of residents of Pennsylvania's mining regions. The MMG also provides opportunities for learning institutions and nonprofits to train individuals in the use of the emerging geospatial technologies that will be integral to many computer operations, especially governmental operations that provide services and information to the residents of Pennsylvania. However, the experience gained from creating geospatial elements of a geodatabase is applicable to almost any profession or business. With "action" as SAN’s middle name, SAN partners have been working since 2003 to implement best practices across the Schuylkill River Watershed.
